Dinosaur birthday parties are stomping back into style!

As all of us 90s kids grew up, the nostalgia for the former glory days of our childhood also grew. Now that we’re in the season of life where we’re having babies, that means that trends and styles from the 90s are very much coming back into style for our little ones. It’s no wonder we see Jurassic Park and 3-Rex themed birthday parties becoming a popular trend! Just ask our pal Logan (see photos throughout the blog), who turned 3 in March and had a Three-Rex themed party! We all love dinosaurs, and despite how scary it would’ve been to meet one in real life, dinosaurs epitomize playfulness for us, and they can be made as scary or as cute as desired, so they’re a great party theme for a range of ages!

If you’re considering a dinosaur themed party for your little one, here are our top 4 ideas for how to throw a unique and fun dinosaur themed birthday party:

1. Pick a unique birthday phrase or expression!

Three-Rex and One-a-saurus are SO cute, and if you wanna go with that, DO IT! But we also know there are a lot of parents who want to have a more customized or unique phrase to celebrate their child’s party.

If you’re going for a custom vibe, then we recommend a few more “off the beaten dino-path” options like “Roar…I’m Four!” or “Stomping into TWO” or “Stomp, Chomp, Roar! It’s [insert your child’s name’s'] Birthday!”. Or consider pairing your kiddo’s name with a play on words like: Happy Birthday to our “Tara-dactyl” or “Tri-Sarah-Tops” - not every name will work perfectly, but have fun with it and get creative!

2. Make sure you go BIG on the decor!

With a dinosaur theme, everything needs to be BIG…and Meri Meri really does have it all when it comes to dinosaur themed party supplies! Obviously you need all of the standards - cute cups, plates and napkins. But we recommend that you take it a step further and hire a local balloon or event decor company to help transform your space into a total Jurassic Park style experience.

Ensuring you have a photo backdrop area, a kid’s fun zone and an experiential activity like hunting for fossils in the backyard or hiring someone to make dinosaur balloon animals will make your party one of a kind!

3. CHOMP CHOMP - feed your little dinosaur party-goers something yummy and on-theme!

Dino chicken nuggets are great in a pinch, but we suggest you zhuzh it up a bit for the big dino party!

Ever considered hosting a breakfast party for your little one’s birthday? Especially for toddlers, who are up early anyway, why not invite your friends over in the morning so the kids can stomp around in a ball pit while you prepare delicious dino-shaped pancakes! And best of all? They are worn out and definitely won’t miss their naps when you have a breakfast party! Just make sure to wrap it up by 1pm at the latest!

4. Set up a cute station for favors and a fun, on-theme mini-activity!

We recommend coming up with a creative and interactive game, like “What’s your dinosaur name” and also getting cute favors that 1) are functional and 2) are adorable and dinosaur themed! In the photo from Logan’s 3-Rex birthday, you can see the favors were dinosaur themed bubbles! You just know those are going to keep the kids entertained for hours!
